Ok so, what makes the scripture above a true statement? Does everyone who confesses with their mouth that Jesus is the Son of God have God abiding in them and they are abiding in God?

2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

Luke 13:27But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’

Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me,Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

1John 3:4
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

1 Corinthians 8:33 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.

John 14:21He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

1John 2:3
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

1John 4:16
16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

2John 1:5-6
5 And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. 6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

1John 2:6
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

Titus 1:16
16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

1John 2:4
4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Ok, so confessing Jesus as the Son of God is equivalent to God abiding in us and us abiding in God. So what exactly does confessing Christ, God abiding in us, and us abiding in God look like according to the above scriptures? Let's paint a picture.

In 2Tim 2:19 we see that God KNOWS those who are His and those who name the name of Christ are to depart from iniquity and in the next couple verses (Luke, Matt, and 1John) We can see that iniquity is lawlessness and lawlessness is sin. So those who profess Christ are to depart from iniquity/lawlessness/sin. Then in Luke 13 and Matt 7 It says that He did not KNOW those who practice iniquity/lawlessness/sin. So my next question is "what does it mean to be known by God?"
1Cor 8:3 answers that question....those who LOVE GOD are known by Him. Ok, So what does it mean to "LOVE GOD"?

Keep His commandments is equated to loving Him in John 14:21 and then 1John 2:3 equates us KNOWING GOD with keeping His commandments. 1John 2:4 even goes so far as to call us a liar if we SAY we "KNOW HIM" and do not keep His commandments! 2John 1:5-6 equates loving with WALKING according to His commandments. 1John 4:16 says the one who ABIDES IN LOVE ABIDES IN GOD AND GOD IN HIM! 1John 2:6 says that any who say that they are abiding in Christ should be walking as Christ walked!

Titus 1:1616 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

1John 2:44 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments , is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

So to answer our initial question of a mere confession of Christ out of the mouth being equal to God abiding in us and us in Him the answer is NO! A confession of Christ without a change of our hearts inwardly and therefor a change in our lives lived outwardly is nothing more than empty words. Being void of substance and void of God!
